Vietnam's leather industry exports are expected to reach US $21.5 billion

According to the prediction of Vietnam leather, footwear and handbag Association (Lefaso), Vietnam's total export of leather products and footwear products is expected to reach 21.5 billion US dollars in 2019. Due to the growing demand for leather products and footwear in Vietnam's main export market, the export of Vietnam's leather industry will achieve the growth target of 10%.

Vietnam's footwear products have been sold to more than 100 countries and regions around the world, half of which have exceeded US $1 million. At present, Vietnam has become the second largest export country of footwear products in the world, and the footwear industry has made great contribution to Vietnam's economic development.

According to statistics of Vietnam leather, footwear and handbag Association (Lefaso), in the first six months of 2019, Vietnam's export revenue of leather products and footwear products exceeded US $10.33 billion, including US $8.53 billion of footwear export revenue and US $1.8 billion of handbag export revenue. Vietnam's leather and footwear production is expected to grow by 10% or 11% in 2019. The United States, the European Union, China, Japan and South Korea are the export markets of Vietnam's major leather goods and footwear products.

According to Vietnam leather, footwear and handbag Association, Vietnamese leather industry enterprises need to break through bottlenecks, especially brand breakthroughs. The comprehensive progress agreement of the trans Pacific Partnership and the EU Vietnam free trade agreement (evfta) have brought great opportunities to the leather and footwear industry in Vietnam.
